Collecting fresh water is a constant of vanlife. Petrol stations and cemeteries are solid sources in the UK and a history of providing services for motorhomes in France and Italy meant it was even easier there. Greece does not have the same culture of motorhome provision but being a Mediterranean country has an (ancient) history of public water fountains. This has led to drawing water from some amazing places. The most extraordinary so far being the Roman fountain at the bottom of the Acrocorinth, both an incredible backdrop as well as a beautiful historic fountain. Also the Sanctuary of Asklepios at Epidaurus, known in the ancient world for its healing waters, the tap wasn’t special but following in the footsteps of all who came before was. Some of the village churches have a water point outside, often positioned conveniently next to the road, provision for the pilgrim, hospitality from old no doubt but welcome by the modern traveller just as much.
