Montepulciano and Montfollonico are both beautiful places but Montepulciano is extraordinary, it’s like wandering around in a story-book. The seemingly endless streets are overflowing with medieval and Renaissance buildings, even the doors are beautiful and the views of the vineyards and distant hills just cannot be properly captured on film. I can see why the Twilight movies used this as a location, it has a natural drama, and although it’s supposed to have become more popular since the filming I wandered around practically alone and completely savoured the experience.
