Christmas Dinner 2021

Christmas dinner 2021

My first Christmas dinner in the van started a bit late as one of the wires to my power switch came out so I had to hunt in the tool box for the tiniest screwdriver, unscrew the connector, strip some of the wire and screw it back in, all on again, phew. Anyway dinner was a delight with roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese followed by Christmas pudding (a traditional British dessert on Christmas day) set alight with brandy left over from a summer festival and some Greek cream. I licked the plate clean.

I had also been scoffing some traditional Greek Christmas biscuits, Melomakarona, rich soft honey biscuits which have more of a cake-like texture and Kourabiedes, my favourite, which are crunchier almond butter biscuits, made with fresh butter and rosewater. The kourabiedes sit in the bakery and patisserie windows at Christmas time, like large mounds of snow tempting you to dive in. Unfortunately I tipped up the box up when carrying them, which is why they all have a bit of icing sugar on!
